I was invited to give a presentation to the President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England entitled “Trainee or Trainer – What Makes a Good Surgeon?”.

Teaching Experience

I have been awarded Honorary Senior Lecturer by the University of Cardiff. I regularly teach and examine medical students and I have been the Case Lead for Case 14: Low Back Pain for the last 9 years.

In the past I was a qualified Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and enjoyed teaching trauma resuscitation skills to junior doctors on a regular basis. I demonstrated anatomy to medical students when I was an Orthopaedic SHO. I have given lectures to Masters students in Trauma Surgery and in Orthopaedic Engineering. I have taught junior doctors about Spinal Surgery on the Current Concept Courses in Spinal Surgery and on the FRCS(Tr&Orth) viva and FRCS(Tr&Orth) Spinal Revision courses.

I have taught on several courses in the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, South Africa and the United States including Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery Techniques, Complications in Spinal Surgery, and Understanding and Applying Sagittal Balance. I was co-chair founding the first Globus Medical Residents and Fellows Spinal Surgery Course in Philadelphia (2015) and I continue to co-chair as it runs into its seventh consecutive year.
